I am excited to share the story behind the inception of Impact Community ACADEMY. This journey began with a profound idea: to create an educational environment where young people’s wellbeing is central, enabling them to thrive, connect, and prepare for the future with confidence and resilience.
We observed increasing challenges faced by young people in our community through IMPACT Community Services' programs. We saw bright, talented individuals who needed a more supportive, tailored approach to learning—one that recognised their unique needs and potential.
With over 45 years of supporting the Bundaberg community, opening a school felt like a natural extension of our mission. The Academy aims to offer a structured yet flexible learning environment, prioritising wellbeing and personal growth.
Establishing a school from scratch is no small feat. We began by forming a dedicated team of educators, community leaders, and child development experts. Together, we crafted a comprehensive educational philosophy centred around holistic education—addressing academic, physical, emotional, and social needs. We also engaged external consultants and involved various IMPACT departments to provide valuable insights.
The process has involved navigating regulatory requirements, securing financing, and choosing the right location. Despite these challenges, our dedicated team and community support have driven us forward. We’ve built strong partnerships with local individuals, organisations, and educational leaders, whose support has been inspiring.
Our facilities at 108 Bargara Road are currently being transformed. Building 1 will become Impact Community ACADEMY, while Building 2 remains our IMPACT HQ. We aim to open by Term 1, 2025, pending construction completion and NSSAB (National Schools Standards Advisory Board) approval. Our construction team is working diligently, and we are actively addressing NSSAB requirements to meet all necessary standards.
We are also pleased to announce the appointment of our founding principal, starting in late August. This principal will play a key role in finalising the school’s operations, including policies on nutrition, uniforms, and mobile phone use. They will also guide the creation of a stimulating learning environment.
Our commitment to wellbeing extends to our entire community. For our clients, it means providing holistic services that address their needs. For our staff, it means fostering a workplace that promotes health and offers professional development.
As we prepare to welcome our first cohort of students, I am filled with pride and anticipation. Impact Community ACADEMY represents a significant milestone in our mission to improve lives and create opportunities. We invite you to join us on this journey as we shape the future of our young people.
Thank you for believing in our vision and being part of the Impact Community ACADEMY story.
