QCE Pathways for Years 10-12

Impact ACADEMY is dedicated to supporting students on their journey to complete Year 12 and successfully graduate with their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).

Our program is specifically designed for students who:

  • Need Extra Support: Benefit from a nurturing environment and tailored learning to help them reach their full potential.

  • Seek an Alternative Environment: May feel misunderstood or disengaged in traditional school settings.

  • Struggle with Academic Demands: Have difficulty understanding, keeping up with, or managing the requirements of academic courses.

  • Experience Well-being Challenges: Face mental health concerns, including feeling overwhelmed or anxious about school.

We provide a differentiated educational approach that combines strong academic foundations with comprehensive well-being support to ensure every student is seen, supported, and empowered to succeed.

Tailored Learning for Years 10–12

Year 10 Program: Building a Strong Foundation

Year 10 is all about giving students the essential skills and confidence they need for their senior years. Students complete core Short Courses in Literacy and Numeracy, ensuring they have the core skills for success in all subjects and life outside school. The curriculum includes Science in Practice, which is hands-on and explores real-world concepts and practical skills that are highly valued in the workplace, and the Career Education Short Course, helping them make informed choices about study and work. Crucially, this year uses the Impact ACADEMY’s Connected Curriculum approach, which links learning across different subjects to enhance student comprehension and recognition of real-world relevance.

Year 11 Program: Exploring Pathways and Building Independence

In Year 11, students officially begin their QCE journey, while we focus on supporting their well-being and flexibility. The academic backbone of the year includes core subjects like Essential English and Essential Mathematics, which are taught in a way that is adaptable and focused on real-world application. Students also select subjects from Sport & Recreation and Social & Community Studies, allowing them to pursue interests that complement their career goals. A unique well-being component is the S.E.L.F. Short Course, aimed at boosting self-awareness, reducing anxiety, and increasing confidence. This is the first year of the Flexi-Day option (one day per week), which allows time for catch-up work and extra one-on-one help with teachers, with attendance mandatory only for students who have missed formal learning days. This year also fully integrates the VET and Pathways Program, allowing students to begin certificate courses and gain practical work experience.

Year 12 Program: Completion, Specialisation, and Transition

Year 12 is the final push, focused on completing the requirements to graduate with the QCE. Students continue with Essential English, Essential Mathematics, Sport & Recreation, and Social & Community Studies to secure their qualification, with the option to continue with Science in Practice. The VET and Pathways Program remains a major focus, providing qualifications and experience for career pathways. The Flexi-Day continues, but its purpose is customised for transition: students can use this day to attend registered external training, school-based traineeships, or participate in work placements, giving them a head-start on their career. Students not enrolled in external training can still utilise the Flexi-Day for additional teacher guidance and to finalise any academic requirements, ensuring a successful completion and transition.
