Message from the Principal
It brings me great pleasure in writing this Principal’s Message, reflecting on our inaugural term at Impact Community ACADEMY. We began the term with our very first class of Year 11 students, and it has been truly inspiring to watch them grow – not only learners but individuals. Their development throughout the term has been nothing short of amazing.
Our first day of school was marked by a powerful Acknowledgement of Country and Smoking Ceremony led by Bec from the Taribelang Aboriginal Corporation. This moment set the tone for our school community, highlighting the deep cultural significance that enriches our shared journey.
Throughout the term, our students have strengthened their social skills and resilience, making us incredibly proud. They are the kind of young people who represent the values and vision of Impact ACADEMY.
But it’s not just our students who have grown. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to our amazing staff, who have embraced their new roles with passion and purpose. They’ve taken on the challenge of re-imagining education. Creating a space where both students and staff feel inspired to be every day. Their commitment to ongoing professional development has been key to building a strong, supportive and innovative school culture.
I am really excited for what lies ahead as Impact ACADEMY continues to grow and reach more young people in our community. The future is bright, and this is just the beginning.

Term 2 Overview
Foundations for Growth
This term, our students have taken powerful steps towards understanding themselves and their place in the world. Through the creation of their own Individual Support Plans, they’ve begun to identify their emotional needs, strengths and strategies for self-regulation – laying the groundwork for personal growth and resilience.
S.E.L.F Program
The Students Exploring Life Foundations (S.E.L.F) program continues to be a transformative part of our school culture and something we focus on every afternoon. Recognised by the QCAA and offering 1 QCE Credit, S.E.L.F helps students to explore their identify, values, and emotional wellbeing – building confidence, resilience and a strong sense of self.
Community Partners
We’re grateful for the growing support from the community. A big thank you to:
Kellogg’s for donating breakfast cereal – helping our students start each day right.
U by Kotex for providing essential sanitary packs.
IMPACT Community Service’s Community Navigator Program for giving their time to support our students and families.
Casting Lines and Visions
With the support of Tackle World Bundaberg, students have been learning practical fishing skills and exploring local spots. But these adventures aren’t just about catching fish – they’re about connection, patience and learning from the land. Students are also drafting proposals to the Bundaberg Mayor, advocating for a youth-friendly fishing venue that reflects the needs and voices of young people in our region.
Real-World Learning in Action
In Maths classes, students applied their skills in budgeting, measurement and scale to design a proposal for a new common area at Impact ACADEMY – bringing creativity and practicality together. In English, persuasive writing took centre stage. Students crafted compelling arguments for both their mayor proposals and their common area designs, learning how to use their voices to influence and inspire.
Celebrating the Journey
To close out a term filled with growth, challenges and meaningful connection – not just for our students, but for our staff as well – we came together for a relaxed BBQ celebration. It was a chance to pause, reflect and recharge – recognising just how far we’ve all come, side by side.
Learning That Leaves a Legacy
A visit to Monsoon Aquatics opened students’ eyes to the world of marine science and sustainability. They learned how their choices can impact the Great Barrier Reef, and how careers in conservation can shape a better future. At Mon Repos, students learnt about turtle conversation from rangers and explored Turtle Sands Resort, discovering what it looks like to work in the hospitality industry.
