Impact Community ACADEMY does not have a set uniform. We encourage all students to dress in an appropriate fashion. Flat, comfortable shoes – do not wear high heels, ugg boots (or similar footwear) or thongs as these are not safe and are not permitted. Dress code is further discussed during the enrolment process and within the Student and Parent Handbook.
At Impact ACADEMY, we are building student capacity to transition into the next step of their journey, be it employment or further education. In doing this, we ask students to wear clothes that would prepare them for employment and further education. Considering the climate, it is recommended that shoulders are covered. No short clothing that could be misconstrued as revealing for all students. This includes short shorts, muscle tops, or cropped shirts.
Dress code is further discussed during the enrolment process and within the Student and Parent Handbook.
Your smile and positivity. We provide all the required resources and tools for our students to succeed, including food and water.
Impact Community ACADEMY does not charge fees.
Impact ACADEMY provides all learning resources required, including technology needed to complete the necessary school activities. We ask that any personal devices are kept out of sight or at home, or if it’s your mobile phone, in the mobile phone box in the classroom.
Impact Community ACADEMY aims to open their doors to Year 11 enrolments in 2025, with the school looking to begin classes in Term 2, 2025.
Year 11 will be offered from 2025, and Year 12 will be offered from 2026. Impact ACADEMY will later review the possibility of Year 10 from 2027.
At Impact ACADEMY, we are strongly committed to our Well-being First Model. We ensure that we work closely with our young people and their parent/carers to ensure we are best supporting their needs socially, emotionally, and physically.
To ensure this, we approach our daily practice through a trauma-informed lens. We aim to have a teacher and a teacher aide per classroom. Outside the classroom, students also have access to our youth worker. We aim to have every student on an Individual Learning Plan and their own personal Student Support Plan that has tailored goals and supports their needs.
We are a Special Assistance School that works with the student and meets them where they are when they enrol. As we are in the independent sector, we have the flexibility to work with a young person for an extra year if they need it.
Further information on what makes us different can be found under the ‘Our School’ tab.
We have no more than 18 students enrolled in a class.
We offer an unscored QCE through Applied subjects.
Once you have completed a tour and lodged an application, the process depends on getting the finalised documents that we need. A student support group meeting with their teacher would then be scheduled to finalise learning plans and support plans. Once this is complete, the young person can start.
We take on rolling enrolments and have the ability for our young people to start at various times across the year. This will be discussed and finalised during the enrolment process.
We do not offer a school bus. We are preparing students for what comes next, supporting them to be self-sufficient in getting to school. Our youth worker can work with the young person to help navigate getting to school if transport is a barrier.
We have phone lock boxes in each classroom. At the start of the day, students are asked to put their device away, and it gets returned at the end of the day. As well-being is a large focus of our practice, we want to take every opportunity to build the social and emotional skills of our young people.
Impact Community ACADEMY will provide all opportunities a young person needs to complete the requirements for a QCE. Staff will work with students to tailor their learning plans to best suit where they are on their learning journey. This is done with the expectation that the student has buy-in and applies themselves to their learning.
QCE is participation-based learning, meaning the student needs to attend, complete the set work, and meet the required timeframes.
It is expected that a young person is enrolled full-time at Impact ACADEMY and that they will attend regularly. While we don’t have a benchmark attendance percentage that we compare against, it is expected that the young person is here and learning. If they are not, then their enrolment may become in jeopardy.
