For over 45 years, IMPACT Community Services has supported vulnerable individuals and families in Bundaberg, Discovery Coast, and Fraser Coast regions. Our commitment to community wellbeing has led us to develop various programs addressing the diverse needs of our community.
Recognising a Critical Need
In our work with local youth and families, we identified that many young people are struggling with traditional schooling. Discussions with local school representatives revealed that approximately one in three students have disengaged, or are at risk of disengaging, from traditional education. Recognising this critical need, in 2023 we began thinking about what a special assistance school tailored to these students might look like.
The Birth of Impact Community ACADEMY
In 2024, Impact Community ACADEMY was born. After much brainstorming and discussion, we designed a school environment that provides a nurturing, supportive, and engaging space for young people. Our school offers a unique opportunity for students to re-engage with their education in a setting that prioritises their wellbeing and personal growth.
Preparing for the Future
Located at 108 Bargara Road, our facilities were transformed for the ACADEMY. One of our two existing buildings became the designated space for the school, and the second remains as our IMPACT HQ.
Leadership and Vision
We were excited to welcome our founding principal, Jenna Auer, who joined us in late August 2024. Jenna was pivotal in finalising the establishment of Impact Community ACADEMY. She ensured the creation of a supportive and engaging learning environment, including curriculum design and teacher selection. Jenna built strong community relationships and oversaw the launch of the school, focusing on student wellbeing and holistic education.
Welcoming our Inaugural Teachers
We welcomed our inaugural teachers in March 2025.
Opening Doors to Inaugural Students
We opened our doors to our inaugural Year 11 student cohort in April 2025, ready for Term 2 of the school year.
A New Chapter in Our Mission
Impact Community ACADEMY is a natural extension of IMPACT Community Services' mission to improve lives and create opportunities. Our commitment to wellbeing extends to our entire community, providing holistic services for our clients and fostering a healthy workplace for our staff. Students have access to IMPACT Community Services suite of support programs and services.
